Tackling CD carryovers

The weather has knocked the two turf races to the main track and reduced field sizes to 8, 7, 6, 7, 4 and 9 for the sequence. If I were brave enough to tackle today's $781k carryover at Churchill Downs I would play 22 tickets using the Steve Crist Chinese Menu method. My tickets would include 6As, 5As and a B or C, and 4As and 2Bs or the above table. The tickets cost $2880, quite a bit down from the $4736 play I came up with last night before the scratches. I really like Stratos in the 7th and Saviano in the 9th so if you made the Bs into Cs in those races you'd cut down the cost to $1128.

As for the Super Hi 5 (in the 9th race), there is a $251k carryover. Since I like Saviano (returns to routing for the first time since claimed for $25k by Bowman off of Maker), I'd single him on top. Using the all button in the next four holes costs $1680. To cut costs I would force at least two of the next four finishers to be B horses from the above list. That would reduce the ticket to $1272. If instead you make three of the next four finishers be B horses the cost falls to $408.

I might take a run at the Pick 6 at $1128. I'll probably pass on the Super Hi 5.
