BC adds three more races

We now have 14 races over two days. They added a turf race for Juvenile Fillies. Given that the running of the Juvenile Turf race drew a pathetic field I am sure splitting into divisions by sex will improve things. Why the BC wants to separate horses between turf and dirt as Juveniles is beyond me. I guess they'd rather not see horses like Showing Up and Barbaro make attempts to run on the dirt (and yes in the US it is still all about dirt racing). There is also a turf sprint which will be run on the downhill course at Santa Anita. Both races carry a $1 million purse. The Marathon, the event I am actually excited about, carries a $500,000 and will be run at 12 furlongs. Why the smaller purse? There are as many existing races for stayers as there are for two Juvenile Turf races. I would like to see the purse for the Marathon increased to $1 million and the distance lengthened to 16f. Let's reward stamina. Right now the BC goes cheap on the stayers and steeplechasers - but at least we now have races for them.
