Now matter how you look at it Invasor and Premium Tap ran very fast on Saturday. Invasor's final time of 1:59.97 was the second fastest ever in the Dubai World Cup and more than a second faster than 2006 winner Electrocutionist (2:01.32) despite running over a slower surface (based on slower times in the other three races as compared to 2006).

Anyway, here is my attempt to create Beyer figures for the dirt races. I'm fairly sure that I have the World Cup rated too high based on a figure of 114 for Bullish Luck. The Golden Shaheen was slowly run but the field look weak  - Thor's Echo was the only horse who entered with a figure above 109 and the others that had run tiple digit Beyers were inconsistent. I feel comfortable with the 98 for Kelly's Landing, an all or nothing horse who has run two 108s. Given the configuration of the track, I could make different ratings for straight and one-turn races but this becomes even more of a guessing game with just one sprint. Spring At Last's 105 might be a bit low. My track variant calculation is -5.  Given the disparity between the first three races (2-4 on the card) and the World Cup (race 7), maybe the surface speed up quite a bit.
