Marathon at Hastings

Hastings, a 5f bullring in Vancouver, will contest the longest dirt race in North America this Saturday. Eight battle tested geldings (averaging 47 starts) will compete over 17f. The race has a nice purse of $40,000 and is restricted to horses that have started for a claiming price of $8000 or less in the past two years. Many of these horses have knocked heads before in other distance tests run under the similar conditions at Hastings and Emerald Downs. The horses will take three laps around the oval and should finish up between 3:45-3:50. Play Lord Frederick (8 of 20 lifetime, in the money while running top figures in his four marathon starts) over Cleard For Action (shipper who is stoutly bred – by Victory Gallop out of a His Majesty mare)
